Mona Viera
Advocate, Student, and Poet
Mona Viera was a member of POPS the Club when she was in high school at Venice High, a club that was created by a nonprofit to provide support to children and other loved ones of the incarcerated. An outspoken and longtime advocate for herself and other children of the incarcerated, Mona is a university graduate, working as a law clerk, planning on going to law school and working in immigration law. Mona’s father and many cousins have been incarcerated. She felt deeply supported by POPS the Club, and she seeks to “give back.” Mona has published several poems in the books that were published in the nonprofit’s anthologies.
