John Bembry

Artist, Activist, POPS the Club Founding Member

John Bembry was a founding member in his senior year of high school at Venice High of a club (Pops the Club) for youth affected by incarceration supported by this nonprofit. He is a poet, an artist, and an advocate for youth like himself—youth impacted by having had family members who were in prison and jail and also as someone who frequently targeted by police because of his skin color and his family’s lack of social status. John’s poems have been published in several anthologies from Out of the Woods Press and by the nonprofit serving children of the incarcerated. He founded and runs the music and merchandise company FlightGVNG (God’s Vision Not Gangs).
