John Rodriguez

Writer, Activist, POPS the Club Founding Member

John Rodriguez was a founding member of POPS the Club, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles and serving children and other loved ones of the incarcerated. When he was a 17-year-old student, he was arrested, charged as an adult, and sentenced to serve 22 years in prison. After 9-1/2 years, his sentence was commuted to time served by Governor Jerry Brown, and he came home where he graduated from UCLA, magna cum laude. John is an activist and writer whose first memoir, Put Down Your Pistol and Pick Up a Pen, co-authored with Dennis Danziger, will be published by Fayetteville Mafia Press in April 2024.
